May 5-6–Seattle-Philadelphia-Madrid-Ponferrada

My butt hurts.  Too much  sitting for two long days of flying and riding the bus 24/7.

But—- this was our view over the airplane wing as we were  landing at daybreak in Madrid …..  and this is Joe eating a small breakfast.

We finally arrived in Ponferrada at about 3:45 this afternoon and spend an hour getting lost trying to find our pension.  All we had to do was stand over the map looking confused or lift our heads to look for street signs and we had competing old men in suits running to help us.  One time a darling female city landscaper took out her earplugs to ask us, ” Espanol  ok?  English better?”  The world is kind.

This picture is the Knights Templar Castle from which they defended pilgrims from robbers.  It feels so good to get off our bottoms and onto our feet again.

Lesson for today–  when you teach Joe to put a garbage bag inside his backpack to keep all the contents waterproof….  do your own backpack, too.

About dbarloworg

I retired in 2016 and joined Joe in lounging around the home all day. We started this blog to record our Camino in May of 2017, then kept it going through my Camino in September 2017, and used it again for my trip to Nepal in 2018 and further.
